My idea is to exploit the “boomer” generation such as those who were born in the 1960′s who are now nearing retirement. Because of the economic crisis, there are many redundant employees who didn’t even reach retirement age when they were retrenched.
The situation gives them the feeling of inferiority because looking for another job is very difficult. Now that most companies are targeting the young, these senior citizens have a little chance to make it in the working industry again. What they don’t know is many of them have the chance to prove that they may be “unnecessary” but they’re still capable to start a business.
There are many retirees who decide to use they’re retirement salaries and pension to start their own business. Some want to turn a hobby or other interests into an income generating process because they know not only does it enhance life, it will also give them passion to live longer.
Most of the retirees aren’t graduates from a business college. Usually, the business trend is reflected in the demand for further educational attainment specifically the MBA, high amount for capital and a lot of strategic planning.
Another factor which has stimulated this trend is the celebrity status of entrepreneurs and the promotion of TV programs such as “Dragons’ Den” and “Shark Tank”. These demands are high and expensive but it doesn’t mean that you can’t have your own business.
