The quantity of advantages and disadvantages is not nearly as important as how much weight and importance you put on them.
One of the biggest advantages is the INCOME POTENTIAL. I believe the wealthiest people own their own businesses. The flip side of that is the RISK of financial instability or bankruptcy. Just how risk averse are you?
Another typical advantage is the freedom to set your own hours and pace. But often the reality is a VERY heavy workload and lots of hours.
It comes down to a personal choice. Do you want all the responsibility on your lap? Or do you prefer to skate off when the day ends or the weekend comes?
