I want to pickup scrap metal from people’s trash, what prerequisites must I fulfill?
I am only 16, near 17, but I am a major entrepreneur. I am constantly finding ways to make money. I was told by a friend that scrapping metal can bring an easy $100 or so for one evening of work. I am interested in doing this now, but I am unsure of how to go about this. I would plan to buy a pickup truck and get a scrapping license, but how would I go about getting a scrapping license? Am I too young? How much does it cost/what does it involve? Are there any scrapping tips that you can give me?
Thanks
P.S: It will most likely be a year before I even consider buying a truck and a scrapping license. I will probably 17 or 18 when I actually start scrapping.

Check with your local building and license department at city hall .
They most likely will want you to have a building with an office and some amount of land , a tall visually screening fence , EPA study on the environment Impact of your business and so on
What most people are doing is scrounging through the dumpsters and doing yard cleanup and then selling the scrap materials to the local scrapyards for cash this is most likely what your friend is talking about
one thing to watch for is when going through the dumpsters is the city considers it thier property and may file theft charges and many people are concerned about id and credit card thefts from the trash
