Issues of world poverty, lack of clean water, drought, famine and the lack of basic services seem like problems that are too big for any one person to tackle, and they probably are. But we need to ask ourselves, what is it that we can do to help people around the world to reinvent themselves to create better opportunities and lives other than simply give money.

More important than money are ideas. Ideas can be much more like a life compass and provide direction for the future rather than just give a small item that solves a need for just today. An idea can change a life, change a family, change a community and change a world. Just one idea, nurtured and grown with love and care can create better lives in distant places.

In a bit less then two weeks, I plan to have a small event. This event will be attended by mainly teens people from ages 15-17. I think there will be around 45 teens attending and about 10 adults attending. It is a two day event. The event is sort of like a gathering of youth entrepreneurs getting to know each other (not every teen in the event knows each other) and some training on skills such as sales. The thing is that I need some help deciding the food selection for breakfast and lunch for the two day event. I want the food selection to be different each time. On the internet, I can find many links to recipes to cook. The problem is, I want a food selection people can grab off a table easily. If the food is cooked, it probably come from a local restaurant. Can you tell me some food selection ideas that are both fun and not cost a fortune? My budget is up to $6 per meal per person. I live in Oakland, California if that helps. Thanks

In fact, many people opt to start their own home based businesses when they are still employed by another company. As long as your potential career doesn’t break any “non-compete” clauses you may have signed with your current company, you can make this work for you.

What do you do now?

Look at your current job and ask what you do all day. Then ask, what parts of the job do you enjoy most? What parts do you enjoy least? How can the positive aspects of this current position be used as an on-line business opportunity? Following are a few examples:

My patent addresses a widespread and urgent need. It should be out in the marketplace already, helping millions of grateful people. However, I don’t have the personality/resources to promote it properly. What do you recommend? Thanks.

By giving money and resources to people and countries in developing countries, we are providing competition that cannot be beat through market forces. This seems like it would stagnate growth and the building of infrastructure so badly needed in these countries.

For example, giving laptops to children in Nigeria prevents an entrepreneur from being in the business of selling computers.
