Question by Cam5X5: Should I get a education or go straight into being a entrepreneur?
I have the money, support and skills to be a hopefully successful entrepreneur…
However my question is, should I have a education in case it doesn’t go well? In case I need to go look for another job?
I mean how does one put “entrepreneur” on a resumes for jobs if it doesn’t go well…. you can’t…
unless you ran a successful business with all the legal forms and sold it.
Or should I just dive straight into being a entrepreneur, risk what little I have.
I’m young… I can still recover after being unsuccessful?
I dunno.

Best answer:

Answer by marquise
do what you think is best for you.
Like me for example, i’m going to take Theatre in college.
I know i really can’t get that much jobs with that.
but i don’t care, its my passion, i’m young.
so if acting doesn’t work out, i can go back to school for something else.

Article by Kitty Lily

The network marketing, had better use electronic business skills about workplace development hope is annual have increased, but cleanup 3 months or a half a year, you still is check period piaffe, the manager said “to put more opportunities to young people,” then you finally understand that sentence classic language “management management is make balance”, like our society as the slogan “harmonious ability development” and “development is the absolute principle”, so harmony is the hard truth.

The theory of economic income should increase, because you have is a skilled worker, production efficiency will improve, a look at the end of piaffe or card slipped a bit, income is changeless fundamental offset no monetary debasement, “spending a little nervous,” said “economic crisis in the leadership of our sales expenses exceed bid, profit quota”, but did not complete the statements listed company announced a look, profits have growth, originally profit only assessment is staff!

Hi! Who told you is the marketing people sa! “Method is better than more difficult” is the slogan of the industry, everyone’s motto, believe you will spend this time points.

Marketing is innovation, but now has no innovation, a little “out”. Planning has scarcely any professional, as long as a search on the Internet, copying others can use; Point has scarcely any new idea is to use the catchword replace, let a person shine at the moment, bright and a little, it is actually “mutton dressed as lamb”; Management is also far from the introduction, again advanced thought moved to his company will find that “suit, is the best”, only the first learning theory version is the most practical, the other no matter what flowery, remove the appearance in which there are all the same, like the marketing management “says it, or best, management of version p.m. as the principles of management or go best!

So we said, “marketing is a rebirth,” not what new ideas, but things develop general rules.

“Three kingdoms” opens with the words “close long will points, FenJiuBiGe”, perfect deduce the company organization transformation. Vertical type and flat alternant, functional and routing friction, division and marketing center, marketing and sales of wandering the points close… No law, only suitable for good!

Some companies to subdivide markets introduced into the management company, constantly for business unit and sales organization subdivision, professional enhanced, total capacitive plunged and cost of sales uptick for solving social employment, made a contribution, but shareholders not satisfied. Shareholders and business operators, appeared the game is to create the final result of compound talents, to recruit skilled workers.

The fine and dashes portion the small, the clutch and together, is not far!

Competition is leading opponent a little, now the situation is leading time too short. You do channel, opponents also do channel, temporarily move your advantage of place, went quietly occupy your weak point; You do promotion, opponents in a day can suit, strength is greater than you; You advertise, opponents, but way is differ custom-made you can can not holding on; You make crowd than your opponent forever, several more… Xi the channel distributor and stores, happy consumers.

Information is good or more rational increased consumption, the power of the brand effect in secret; Bad is more and more serious, product homogeneity, consumer trial competing goods and alternative opportunities increase, a don’t be careful moving! Life difficult, is a more difficult and like hurdles opponent as a king, injuries were follower beyond!

Brand important, or sales important? Countless marketing people questioned our today’s “in short interest, myopia” market operation, think of our domestic brand will gradually impairment; But countless entrepreneurs or enterprise managers, objective assessment, performance management, the thriving business in economic crisis “side scenery!” alone A new index management, in economic indicators, the enterprise is very good use, also easy to improve, and for brand operation and management, our enterprise and display so “pediatrician”. The majority of China’s small and medium-sized enterprise, no capital advantage, that no sales support how to operate the brand, no input in brand management, today, so we never heard of the business operators will choose the latter, will tell you “wait for me, come again to circle the tree brand”, China market is wide, any a sketch kind all can make big market, with native land, again to fix the Great Wall can too.

Network and electronic business, you have to do? But not every enterprise are suitable for you. Don’t understand network and e-commerce company, affirmation is OUT, don’t understand this is certainly be network company “earn big Celtic earn”, do not do the electronic commerce will narrow down your market scope. What search engines ah, competitive ranking ah, viral transmission ah, community ah, network pr ah… You need a good understanding.

Online, online, tangible and intangible, of the market, as the company’s assets as, there is tangible assets and intangible assets. In addition to selling a product on the network, more is the enterprise to on the Internet, brand spread propaganda, or a new generation of “net insect — humble abode,” grow up will not know your product, let alone to try your products!

Year ticked away, at the end of the marketing people lost, and valiant after training the national market, proudly rushed to the front. Whether you are lost, or lost, still have to concentrate, to fight, because marketing people have been accustomed to “lost in their direction, found in confusion find motivation”, that is life!

I would like to start an online business over the summer. I have a few ideas so far. My goal is to eventually make six or more figures a year. I am not sure which idea is the most profitable.

1. A website where users can submit original songs and other users can listen, rate, comment, share, and chat with other users. Users can also create pages where they can post info, keep track of favorite songs, and find new band members. I have no coding experience. I would have to hire a web design firm, a elance person, or my cousin. I am limited with cash. I would make money by selling ad space and selling a pro membership if the site gets big enough. I like this idea!

2. I would create a website where people can buy, sell, trade, or auction off their websites. There are not many marketplaces for selling and buying websites except for a few that aren;t very good. Sitepoint.com does have a section on the site for selling and buying sites, but it is not their main focus. I think this site could be huge. I would hire a web design firm, and elance person, or my cousin to create the site. It should be easy since there are a lot of marketplace scripts around. I would make money from selling ad space on the site, and charging a small 4% fee to the seller once a sale is made. So if he sells his site for $20,000, I would take $800 and he would get $19,200 for the sale. I love this idea! I think it could make me six or more figures a year.

3. My last idea is to become a dealer of Kaeser and Blair. They sell promotional products to businesses like pens, hats, shirts, mugs, etc. with company logos on them. It costs $85 to become a dealer and you get a website, catalogs, and example items to show your clients. You then try to sell as much as possible, you get 50% of sales, and Kaeser and Blair makes and ships the products to your clients. They have been around for over 100 years. I know they are legit since i called the Better Business Bereau BBB of their location and the Chamber of Commerce. They were also featured in Small Business Opportunity Magazine SBO Mag for one of the best business to start up. I think this idea could make me some good profit.

Which idea do you think is the most profitable. I love all 3. I probably like the last two the best, since www.purevolume.com already exists for #1. Which idea should I do? Even if you dont think any would be good, which would you pick if you had to?

Thanks!

Hi everybody,

Alright, I am caught in a huge dilemma here, trying to figure out what to do. I really want to get started on my education since I am turning 23 in April.

I have several things that I would like to do, but I just cannot figure out what or how, or in what order to do them!
I’ve always had a passion for design (fashion, web design, graphic design etc.), and I also have a talent for drawing and being creative. I have always dreamed of having my own design career in one way or another (like having my own brand etc.), but I find it to be a rather dodgy area with a lot of competition and struggle, and I am not sure that I have enough passion for it to do it on such a level.

However, I also have a very big drive and passion for entrepreneurship and always get business ideas popping up in my mind that I would like to give a try, but I want to get more education within the business area to earn more skills and knowledge before jumping into the dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

My dilemma therefore is – should I try get myself a BA degree first and then afterward go and mix it up with a design-related education, and if it fails then I always have my BA to fall back on?

Or should I go for the design first?
I find it very hard to decide what to do, and I am so confused, feel like crying to be honest. I am really starting to get stressed out about my age (22 now, 23 in April). If I start a BA degree this year will I end up being 26 when I finish it, and if I then decide to go for a design education, then I’ll probably end up being 30 years old and no work experience or MSc!?

This is so much trouble to my mind, and I really want somebody to help me with advice. This needs to come to and end, but I feel like I have to chose one, and since they are so different makes it feel like I have to chose between two completely different dream paths in my life, which will exclude the other.

Hello. I would like to start an online business/company over the summer. My goal is to eventually make six or more figures a year. I have two ideas which I think could be really profitable. The problem is, I was quoted 40-50 thousand to make each site (except for the other business ideas). I just dont have that kind of money to even build one site. I will list the ideas below, and could you please tell me which idea you think is more profitable. How should I go about building the site? Should I hire someone on craigslist, rent a coder, etc.? Or should I try to build it my self? What should I use? I dont know programming or coding or web design.

1. My first idea is a website where users can submit original songs and other users can listen, rate, comment, share, and chat with other users. Users could also create a page where they could post info, and find new band members. I like this idea since the only competition is www.purevolume.com. PureVolume is making $300 a day! If I make a better site, why can’t i make that or more? I would sell ad space on the site. Accounts would be free, but if the site became big enough, I would create a pro membership that costs money in addition to the free account. If you think this idea could be profitable, how should I go about creating the site? I got quoted 40-50k to build by a web design firm. Should I use Kickapps which lets you create a social network site where user submit content (videos, MUSIC, videos etc.) for a small fee? Should I hire a developer on rent a coder?

2. My second idea is a website where users could post, list, sell, buy, auction, and trade websites. An ebay or amazon marketplace for websites. Users would post the site link with info and a snapshot and price, and other users would buy the site if they wanted to. I would take a small 4% commision from the sale. I would also sell ad space on the website. This website has some competition such as websitebroker.com, flippa.com, and sitepoint.com, but the potential is huge, and there is room for another player. If you think this site is profitable, how should I build it? Should I hire someone or build it myself. If build it myself, how should I build it?

3. My third idea is to sign up for resellerdynamics. You pay $1000 to them and they give you liscense to re sell there website building software on your own website and charge fees per month. they were reviewed in small business opportunity mag as a good opportunity and bbb says they are legit.

4. My last idea is to make a website with lots of articles, reviews, comparisons, etc. on cell phones. I would also sign up to be an affiliate with verizon, att, sprint, etc., and sell phones on my site. I know there are a lot of competition out there such as phonearena, phonedog, cnet, and mobiledia, but each site doest the same thing as the other site, and they all are making great money. By the way, is a website like this or a website in general considered a company? Could you be a CEO of the company that runs the website. Like if I call the site www.sprocketfish.com, could I make a company called Sprocketfish Inc. that runs the website and could I be CEO of Sprocketfish Inc.?

I really want to make one of these websites with as low startup as possible. I know I would have to market like crazy and do site matinence, but please help me. My parents think i should do a business like normal teens where you mow the lawn, babysit, etc, but I really want to do online business and hopefully make a good living. I think my sites ideas have potential. Which idea should I do? Which idea is more profitable? Even if you think they are not profitable, which would you choose if you had to? How should I build it?

Thanks!

PS, I am becoming a dealer at Kaeser and Blair and selling promotinal products to get me some startup cash for my online companies (websites).

Thanks!!

The Beginning of a New Year, 2010

The Dawning of a New Day

The Making of a New You

Welcome to Entrepreneurialism in 2010

Did you make your 2010 New Year’s Resolutions yet? How about the one where you promise that this will be the last year you work for a measly paycheck? Isn’t it time to keep all the money you earn instead of a fraction of it?

Do you realize how much you are really worth? It is guaranteed that you are way underpaid if you are working for someone. Unless you are in the executive level compensation plan, it is a fact that you will never become wealthy by working at a job.

If you have worked for a paycheck all your life, you are probably stuck in the employee mindset. At one time, you could guarantee a nice, middle to upper middle class lifestyle plus a comfortable retirement, with a job.

Those days are gone forever. Welcome to Entrepreneurialism in 2010.

It is time to change your mindset and renew yourself. You must believe in yourself, take the time and whatever it takes to educate yourself to depend on YOU to create your own reality. You must stop listening to those who would use you in any way they can to steal your talents for their own gain.

You must stand back and take stock of your situation. Are you satisfied with your life? Are you living the life of your dreams?

Or, are you waking up each morning and dreading to go back to the grind? Are you are told how many hours you must work each day, are you forced to work on projects that you know will be scrapped as soon as they are implemented, do you have to obtain permission to take a vacation or to go to the doctor?

How about this one – have you lost a significant portion of your retirement savings due to the economy? Was your pension plan eliminated? Have you been laid off from your job? Has your company been bought out or gone into bankruptcy?

Now, more than ever before, it is time to take control of your life, strike out on your own, and become an entrepreneur.

This doesn’t mean that you must create a new product or come up with something that nobody else is doing. It doesn’t mean that you must figure out how to market all on your own. That’s what franchises are all about.

But, it is no longer a requirement that you need hundreds of thousands of dollars to invest in a franchise. The internet has changed that and taken away the high infrastructure costs.

That’s right, you can invest in an internet franchise that comes complete with all the training you need to market the products. This is entrepreneurialism in 2010.

This is the challenge –

Find a high quality company with top tier products that are valuable in and of themselves and that provide both an upfront compensation plus residuals.

By helping them, you will also be helping yourself!

Entrepreneurialism in 2010 is all about giving and getting back. With the internet, there are no physical boundaries for your business. You can have members of your team in all corners of the world. Just think of the impact you can have to make this world a better place!

Is it time to change your life for the better? It takes drive, persistence, finding the right team to join, and a burning desire to create the lifestyle of your dreams. The beautiful thing is that anyone can achieve financial freedom in the present day. Education, family background, ethnicity, or any other concerns are no longer relevant to success in this internet age.

Don’t let the ‘gloom and doom’ atmosphere slow you down. Now is the time to commit yourself to making significant changes in your life.

Make the commitment, take action, and persist, persist, persist.

Here is to you – the new entrepreneur in 2010!

Im 13. I want to start an online business over the summer. My goal is to eventually make six or more figures a year. I know that sounds crazy since im only 13, but its my ultimate goal. I have a few ideas for a business, but I’m not sure which ones are profitable, and which one I should do.

1. A website where users can submit original songs and other users can listen, rate, comment, share, and chat with other users. There will also be a page where users can keep track of their favorite songs, post info, and find new band members with the band member finder. I would make money from the site by selling ad space, and if the site gets really big, i could create a free and pro level membership (pro costs money). Pro members would get extra features. The problem is, since i have no coding or programming experience, I would have to hire a web design firm. A site like this, though, could cost tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, which I don’t have! My other options are hire a coder/designer/programmer from elance for a nice price, or hire my cousin who is at RIT for web design and programming. I think this idea could be profitable. There is not really competition execpt for www.purevolume.com I like this idea a lot!

2. A website where I would sell musical instruments. I would buy the instruments from a wholesale/dropship company and when i get an order, i give the order to the company who will send the item to the customer. I would buy them wholesale and sell them for profit. I, however, think this business is bad since i would be competing with guitar center, sam ash, www.musiciansfriend.com, amazon, ebay, and more.

3. There is a website called www.remote-backup.com. They provide people options to start their own business providing online backup services. They sell you a license to sell their software for $750 and you re sell the software on your site. You could charge a customer $25 a month for 10 gb of storage, and you would make some profit. Many people lose data everyday from viruses, hard drive crashes, theft, etc. This business would provide a solution. But, some huge competitors are mozy and snapfish and verizon’s new storage service. This could end up costing me 750 for nothing in return.

4. A website where a user can start/create a debate on two topics such as mcdonalds vs burger king. Other users can join the debate by posting arguments under the side they think is better. Example, if i like mcdonalds better then burger king, i post my reasons under the mcdonalds column for why i think it is better. This site could be usefull for many people such as shoppers who want to know what brand they should buy. I would sell ad space for this site.

5. I was reading Small Business Opportunities SBO Magazine, and they had a huge article on a new business opportunity. It is a company called www.resellerdynamics.com. They have a software that lets customers create their own website. They custom brand the software and give you liscense to resell the software for only $999. Once you pay you get a resellers liscense to sell the software, a custom website/hostin/and domain to promote the software to potential customers. You could charge $30 a month for the software and resllerdynamics only takes $10 for server stuff. thats $20 profit a month per customer. If you have 400 customers paying you $20 bucks a month, thats around $100,000 a year! This company is not a scam or pyramid scheme since I called the local BBB Better Business Beraue of the location, and they say the company has good reputations. I like this idea a lot since small business are looking for cheap ways to get a nice website up and running.

6. This last idea is one of my favorites. It would be a website/marketplace where people could buy/trade/sell/auction websites. The user could post a picture of the website, post info, and chose to either sell the site for a flat price, or start an auction for the site by placing a base price. There are already some sites that do this, but they are not that good function wise. www.sitepoint.com does have a feature where you could buy and sell websites, but that is not their main focus. I would make money from selling ad space, and charging the poster a small fee once a sale has been completed. I would hire my cousin to create this site, since it would not be hard to create since many auction and marketplace scripts are out their.

Which ideas do you think are most profitable? Which idea should I do? I love the music sharing site, website reseller, and the website marketplace idea (which is my favorite).

Even if you think none of these are profitable, what would you pick if you had to choose?

Thanks!

and provide good paying jobs, rather than the kind of immigrants who merely invest in our least expensive real estate (which drives up the rent for those who can least afford it, thus contributing to overall poverty.)
How do we encourage immigrants to employ people outside their own ethnic group. All the racial nonsense on yahoo questions and no one brings up immigrants who only hire other immigrants. If White people have to be Equal Opportunity employers, then its time we start holding immigrant entrepreneurs to the same standard. Illegal immigration from Mexico can’t be helped, the border is too big. It’s time we enforced the labor laws in this country! I understand the bilingual thing and all, but guess what, I’m bilingual, but they assume because I’m an American I must be lazy. And Americans are just as bad for hiring them and then hating them and saying ‘deport them’ after they get what they pay for. I’m not saying all rich Americans, but most have gotten too stingy!!!

Britain Adopting ‘Points’ Immigration

Britain will adopt a points-based system restricting immigration to those with skills in need and rejecting those who would compete with local workers for unskilled jobs.

The system, which follows an Australian model, would assign points to immigration applicants according to their skills and job prospects in the United Kingdom, and place applicants in one of five tiers.

The first tier, for highly skilled applicants such as scientists and entrepreneurs, will be launched at the beginning of next year, according to the Sydney Morning Herald in Australia.

It will be followed later in the year by tiers for skilled workers, such as nurses and teachers with job offers.

I’m graduating in two weeks and I am undecided on what I want to do. Here is what I am considering:

1. Backpack Europe (only have around 3,000 USD)
2. Move to Barcelona, Spain and work/party. But for English speaking Americans I am sure this would be difficult.
3. Join the military. Get in writing that I will be trained in my career choice and will have financial aid when going to college afterwards.
4. Stay in Arizona and work/party, wait a semester then go to a community college.
5. Do volunteer work in some other country.
6. Go on a walkabout in Australia.
7. Kill myself… Kidding :S

I’m not interested in ever having a career. While I would like to be trained/learn about things in life that will help me in my purpose, that doesn’t not mean I want to work/retire/die. I want to be an entrepreneur and create something.

I like philosophy, economics, sociology, poly-tics, business, and investing. I’m an INTP. Although I love people (women!).

I want to become an entrepreneur in the biotech industry in 5-10 from now. I would like to create a company that creates customizable cure solution and treatment cheaply and for everyone. I believe that Genomics/Proteomics/Informatics/Internet will help us achieve that goal.

Now, I’m just a twentysomething guy who has a bachelor degree in Economics and I work a very big internet company. I do love internet and computer high-tech products, but I can’t see myself doing this forever.

I understand that I will probably have to start undergraduate program again. That’s my question:

Which are the best biology/biotech undergraduate program in Canada, US and Europe?
Once I have my undergraduate degree, what should I do next ? PhD? Master? MBA?
Also, do you know any scholarship that can help me in this dream? Do you have any other suggestion of how I can achieve this?

Thanks.

I’m the type of person who likes learning about nutrition and keeping a person looking good. I also like creating products like innovative food products and cosmetic products. I want to sell these products. But i’m scared that it would be hard to earn from a job like that. So my 2nd choice would be to become a hospital dermatologist and if i’m really good i can start my own business of selling beauty products and maybe offer cosmetic surgeries. But if i dont sell products and remain as a hospital dermatologist, will i earn a lot? This is in the philippines.

Management of applied chemistry:
This innovative program is the first of its kind in the Philippines and is a combination of two unlikely partners: Management and Chemistry. It aims to develop managers and entrepreneurs with a strong technical background and a working familiarity with the chemical processes used in manufacturing operations.

Success in business and in chemistry usually requires a combination of practicality, creativity, discipline, and exactness. These are the qualities and skills that the program hopes to impart through a four-year curriculum that covers Management, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Computers.

This program has a strong hands-on and project orientation. Chemistry will be taught from a more applied perspective, and laboratory courses will have more practical experiments that will require individual work by students. The centerpiece if the program is a sequence of courses that will allow the students to use marketing research to identify unfilled niches in the market, go to the laboratory to design the product that will fill this niche, and then prepare a business plan to launch and market this new product.

Students who intend to work in business dealing with chemistry-based products such as pharmaceuticals, processed foods, rubber, and plastic will benefit from the sort of training providing by this program.

Health Science:
The Health Sciences Program offers the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, an honor’s degree. It is designed for future health professionals and physicians who aspire to continue their training at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH). The program requires a total of 162 academic units. The Core Curriculum provides a foundation for using the multi-disciplinary approach in the study of health. This approach is further deepened through relevant course offerings in the social sciences and management. The courses hve been arranged in a sequential manner to enable to student to appreciate the disciplines as they relate to each other in the context of health. The program also draws strength from its close coordination with the Health Unit of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, The Leaders for Health Program and The Medical City.

The Curriculum

The program requires a total of 162 academic units: 75 units of core courses and 87 units of major courses. The Core Curriculum provides a foundation for using the multi-disciplinary approach in the study of health. This approach is further deepened through relevant course offerings in the social sciences and management. The courses have been arranged in a sequential manner to enable to student to appreciate the disciplines as they relate to each other in the context of health.

All the offerings in the undergraduate college years and the M&PH phase will revolve around three main areas:

• Medicine and the Individual – which refers to Clinical Medicine Training. Basic courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math will be taught in the pre-professional phase. Mentoring is an integral part of the program.
• Medicine and Population – which refers to the Public Health components of health and communities.
• Medicine and Society – which refers to the application of other disciplines in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Management to the area of health.

If at some point the student decides not to become a physician, the program has been designed to provide the necessary training for a graduate to pursue a career in the heath sector other than being a physician.

Ok! I am not saying that everyone should go for entrepreneurship or it is the only way to Nirvana. Every person is different and has different qualities which may or may not make him suitable for entrepreneurship. Besides if everyone will become an entrepreneur, then who would work for them!

That’s been said, there are several reasons for a person to go the entrepreneurial way. One reason, purely logical and objective, which could be thought of is the following.

If I am employed by an organization and is paying me $1, then surely it would be making atleast $2 out of me. Hence I am losing out on that extra $1 which I could have made for myself if I was working for myself.

Moreover everyone of us is familiar with 80-20 rule which could be interpreted in many ways. One variation of the rule could be that 20% of the people in an organization are doing the work for rest 80%. Now if we go by that interpretation, then the company would be funding those 80% of the personnel by generating profits out of those 20% who does all the work. Now if we assume ourselves to be good enough to belong to that 20% bracket, then essentially we are the guys who are funding the whole organization. Therefore the minimum, the organization is making out of us is $6 (4 for 80%, 1 for itself and 1 for us).

One doesn’t need any super mathematical skills to see it through. If anyone of us were to be an entrepreneur then we would be making $6 for ourselves whereas if employed $1 hence a profit of $5.

Cool! Isn’t it! Just imagine the kind of wealth that would be amassed!

China blocks millions of websites in the name of trying to curb porn. Curbing free porn on the Internet has led to the development of another economic opportunity for Chinese entrepreneurs who use VPN services to download porn movies and then sell the pirated copies through their agents.

This practice has provided opportunities for thousands (millions?) of otherwise unemployed Chinese to get some sort of employment. Is there any lesson here that US may learn?
