I am a Chinese student who is applying to transfer from community college to UC now. I wrote a personal statement for my application. Could anyone help me revise my grammars and sentence patterns? Even a paragraph or a sentence, I would appreciate it.

My interest in economics and business has reasons. For one thing, born in a business family, I had been influenced by my family’s economics sense and education. For another, I was nurtured in a new China which keeps economic development as its central task and under a backdrop of rapidly growing economic globalization

When I was in middle school, I organized some classmates collecting the discarded bottles and cans on campus, and then we sent them to the reclamation depot, receiving some petty cash. I outlined the rules of our little “company” and the responsibilities of every member. We were happy because we earned money by doing a virtuous thing. Finally, we donated most of the money to our class as the activity funds. This was my first contact with business activity.

After I graduated from my Chinese college, I opened an online store primarily selling slippers in the largest Chinese C2C website, TaoBao. During that period, I was working around the clock. I dedicated myself to it. One of my biggest proud of it was that I received 100 percent positive feedback from all customers. It was extremely hard to achieve this because I needed to pay my true love to both my store and the customers all the time. Under my direction, the business was flourishing every day, and we soon became one of the biggest slipper sellers in TaoBao. During the half a year, my earnings were more than most Chinese workers’ two-year-earnings. Meanwhile, I also solved a poor classmate’s employment problem by offering him a job. It is currently being run by my cousin, and the address is http://shop33903193.taobao.com/.

No matter I reclaimed bottles and cans or ran online store was for the common purposes: to maintain the environment and to help others. I thought we could save resources and reduce pollutions through recycling waste and the online store could save people’s time as well as reduce emission by decreasing the vehicle operation.

When I was in the Chinese college, I was often wondering why the economic development was always accompanying with political struggle and a sacrifice of environmental disruption. It is good for a state to pursue its economic advancement, but it should take the responsibility of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development as well. How to achieve this goal? How to arouse people’s consciousness? These are some of the questions always puzzled me. I hope I could search out an answer by seeking knowledge in the U.S. which has the most advanced political and economic system in the world.

Because of my explicit preferences, I have already had my future in mind. I might become an entrepreneur, a CEO, or an environmentalist. Regardless, if I choose to start my own business, I will prefer low-carbon industries; if I become a manager, I will take environment into the first consideration; if I work in government, I must engage in environmental work. I do want to earn money, but I want to contribute to the society even more; we do need increasingly economic growth, but we need green mountains, clear waters, blue sky and white cloud even more. I admire Americans could enjoy the fresh air and sunshine in California coast, and I wish my country could enjoy this someday.

I’m the type of person who likes learning about nutrition and keeping a person looking good. I also like creating products like innovative food products and cosmetic products. I want to sell these products. But i’m scared that it would be hard to earn from a job like that. So my 2nd choice would be to become a hospital dermatologist and if i’m really good i can start my own business of selling beauty products and maybe offer cosmetic surgeries. But if i dont sell products and remain as a hospital dermatologist, will i earn a lot? This is in the philippines.

Management of applied chemistry:
This innovative program is the first of its kind in the Philippines and is a combination of two unlikely partners: Management and Chemistry. It aims to develop managers and entrepreneurs with a strong technical background and a working familiarity with the chemical processes used in manufacturing operations.

Success in business and in chemistry usually requires a combination of practicality, creativity, discipline, and exactness. These are the qualities and skills that the program hopes to impart through a four-year curriculum that covers Management, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Computers.

This program has a strong hands-on and project orientation. Chemistry will be taught from a more applied perspective, and laboratory courses will have more practical experiments that will require individual work by students. The centerpiece if the program is a sequence of courses that will allow the students to use marketing research to identify unfilled niches in the market, go to the laboratory to design the product that will fill this niche, and then prepare a business plan to launch and market this new product.

Students who intend to work in business dealing with chemistry-based products such as pharmaceuticals, processed foods, rubber, and plastic will benefit from the sort of training providing by this program.

Health Science:
The Health Sciences Program offers the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, an honor’s degree. It is designed for future health professionals and physicians who aspire to continue their training at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH). The program requires a total of 162 academic units. The Core Curriculum provides a foundation for using the multi-disciplinary approach in the study of health. This approach is further deepened through relevant course offerings in the social sciences and management. The courses hve been arranged in a sequential manner to enable to student to appreciate the disciplines as they relate to each other in the context of health. The program also draws strength from its close coordination with the Health Unit of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, The Leaders for Health Program and The Medical City.

The Curriculum

The program requires a total of 162 academic units: 75 units of core courses and 87 units of major courses. The Core Curriculum provides a foundation for using the multi-disciplinary approach in the study of health. This approach is further deepened through relevant course offerings in the social sciences and management. The courses have been arranged in a sequential manner to enable to student to appreciate the disciplines as they relate to each other in the context of health.

All the offerings in the undergraduate college years and the M&PH phase will revolve around three main areas:

• Medicine and the Individual – which refers to Clinical Medicine Training. Basic courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math will be taught in the pre-professional phase. Mentoring is an integral part of the program.
• Medicine and Population – which refers to the Public Health components of health and communities.
• Medicine and Society – which refers to the application of other disciplines in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Management to the area of health.

If at some point the student decides not to become a physician, the program has been designed to provide the necessary training for a graduate to pursue a career in the heath sector other than being a physician.

CGI was launched by President Clinton in 2005.
Martín Burt, of Fundacíon Paraguaya, who discussed the progress of “Education that Pays for Itself,” a commitment to provide business training to disadvantaged youth in rural areas to equip them to become entrepreneurs. As part of this commitment, Fundacíon Paraguaya recently hosted the first International Conference on Self-Sufficient Schools, where 140 participants from 20 countries met to explore the creation of innovative high school curricula to train young people to manage small-scale agricultural enterprises on their campuses.
Since the Annual Meeting in 2007, Fundación Paraguaya has held the first International Conference on Self-Sufficient Schools with 140 participants from 20 countries in Paraguay, where they launched the idea of reinventing rural education through entrepreneurship. The Second International Conference will be held November 2008 in South Africa. Fundación Paraguaya strengthened their partnerships with the Skoll Foundation, Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, Avina Foundation, Educating Africa Foundation, and the Peery Foundation to help them develop a global network. Their network is called “Teach A Man To Fish” and has 600 members from 80 countries. Fundación Paraguaya partnered with international NGOs such as the Nike Foundation, CARE, Opportunity International, and Christian Children’s Fund to build or transform rural schools in South America, Africa, and India. They have projects in 13 countries thus far, and plan to reach 50 countries by 2017. They are working with the Inter American Development Bank and their inclusive business division called “Opportunity for the Majority” to allocate funds and/or provide loans. Finally, they received a commitment from a Swiss social venture capital firm called Alpha Mundi Group to help raise US$ 15 million in grants.

Once again, I was emasculated by the political class. I shouldn’t have been surprised since it happens all the time. However, this latest incident was one more slap in my face by those who readily spend my money as if it were their own.

Not long ago, my wife and I invited an energetic young man over to our house for dinner and discussion. This man was on a mission. Well, actually, he is looking to go on a mission. You see, our heroic gentleman is devoting his life to missionary work throughout the Third World: flying airplanes filled with supplies and hope, and landing those packed aircraft on all too-short runways carved into mountain tops and jungles. A noble cause indeed. A cause that my wife and I want to support.

So, we invited him over to learn more about his mission, and his financial needs. We fed our guest and sat down to a very interesting and enlightening presentation. It was obvious that this man was committed and ready to go.

Even though the journey through his slides and videos really excited us, my wife and I had already set our maximum contribution level during earlier contemplations. It was not going to be much, a point that really hit our hearts. Nevertheless, it was going to be something. We would rearrange some things and commit our money toward this man’s mission of service and sacrifice.

This is the world of the individual. A world where scarcity limits the ability to satisfy all wants — with most wants never being addressed, let alone satisfied.

Contrast our world with that of the political class. Here, scarcity is nonexistent. While my wife and I struggled over whether or not we could commit financial resources, the politician simply commits our resources for us. No questions asked.

Soon after we had settled on an affordable monthly gift for missionary flights, I read where Bush trumped me by committing $30 billion toward fighting AIDS in Africa. Worthy? Certainly. But, that was my money he committed, not his.

“I end up emasculated by the politician’s theft of my charity.”
While my wife and I agonized, never feeling satisfied that our level of financial commitment was sufficient, Bush proudly committed multiples of our contribution level (when you consider the $30 billion on a per-capita basis) without taking into account our ability to pay. It was easy for him.

Politicians can proudly proclaim their gifts to the world, and never worry about the source of funds, nor weigh the gifts against alternate choices. They simply get to give, smile, and sit back to receive the accolades that fall at the feet of the political don. What a life — though a life devoid of reason and reality.

You see, by acknowledging the reality of scarcity, we actually create more value. Scarcity causes us to provide funds to the producers of only the most worthy goods produced most efficiently. This is true whether the good is a producer good, consumer good, or charitable good.

Recognizing scarcity and alternative costs is essential for progressing economies. The consumer or donor quickly notes wasteful activities and excludes these from further investment or giving. Under a system of recognized scarcity, the wants of the consumer force entrepreneurs and charities to allocate resources to the most valued activities. This allocation benefits the consumer and the investor, as well as the sick and the poor.

Bush’s gift is unrecognized by me, financially speaking. I have not given any thought to which of my wants will go unsatisfied due to his political philanthropy. The rearrangement of my finances will become reality when his bill is finally due — at the checkout line. When that reckoning occurs, I will not put two and two together — or $15 billion and $15 billion in this case — and note that changes in the marketplace are the result of Bush’s gift. The beauty of political philanthropy for the politician is that the gifts appear to be free.

$20
“The substitution of a legally enforceable claim to support or sustenance for charitable relief does not seem to agree with human nature as it is…” –Ludwig von Mises, Human Action

But such gifts limit my ability to fund the mission work of my pilot friend. I end up emasculated by the politician’s theft of my charity. Bush gets to stand proud while I try to come up with excuses for why I can’t give more. While I shuffle my feet and avoid the direct eye contact of the adventurous pilot, Bush looks the camera in the lens and proclaims his righteousness.

Isn’t it high time that we demand that our so-call representatives quit giving our money in their names? We will help the sick and poor if only we can keep our money in our own wallets.

In fact, our giving will have a greater effect since our gifts will be subject to the constraints of alternative costs. Donors will award funding to the efficient providers of service and sacrifice. Those providers that cannot meet the demands of donors — donors who face the reality of scarcity — will quickly disappear. Market pressures will create an efficient delivery system of charity, one that far exceeds the current system run by government agencies.

We are continually emasculated by DC thugs who steal our dollars and then hand them out as their own, leaving us to distribute whatever change is left in our pockets. The politicians get to stand proud while we have to make excuses.

How dare they do that to us! How dare we let them!
Sorry Wolf, I do not like politicians
Political Leadership is a Myth
Maybe i like Ron PAul because his going to Stop the nonsense War for real and now……………and his an honest Dr.

Professional development takes on more meaning than just improving your business-related skill set or adding a new professional skill set. If your thoughts, beliefs and habits don’t support you in taking your profession to the next level, it doesn’t matter how many new skills you learn. You can read in many best-selling books that your beliefs certainly do influence and ultimately create your experiences. This is why it is important to take a holistic approach to professional development training.

What are some of the benefits to taking a holistic approach to professional development?

1) You develop all areas of your life without leaving one part to slow down the development in other areas of your life.

Think of a wheel that is divided into 8 sections. Each section represents one part of your life. The amount of development in that area of your life is represented by how much that section is filled. The optimum condition is to have each section developed to the maximum to form a perfect circle with no chunks missing or dents. The wheel rolls smoothly, which represents how smoothly your life runs. As more and more areas of your life are unevenly developed, the wheel becomes massively dented and the ride is extremely bumpy, sometimes throwing the rider completely off track. Supplementing your professional skills with inner developmental skills allows you to develop at a more even pace.

2) You progress with your professional development at a faster rate.

Inner beliefs and thoughts that are discovered which do not support you in taking your skills to the next level will get in the way of using newly learned skills to increase your revenue. This is especially important for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to use the economic slowdown to get extra skills. If entrepreneurs are overriding their newfound skills with a lot of self-criticism, or a lot doubt, it might have well been as if the entrepreneur hadn’t taken any skills training at all. There is a saying out there called Death By Doubt?, which erases any gains an individual is striving to make.

What is one of the best ways to take a holistic approach to your professional development training?

The most efficient way to progress with your training is to become aware of your beliefs and thoughts. There are many tools and systems out there that assist you in being able to become aware of your subconscious thoughts. This is the only way you can change the beliefs that will keep you from moving forward because you can change what you don’t acknowledge and you can’t acknowledge what you are not aware of. There are also a number of tools and self paced courses that help you to change your thoughts and beliefs from destructive to constructive patterns.

When you are searching the market for these types of self paced personal transformation courses, you will want to make sure your course is able to do the following:

1) It works directly at the subconscious level for rapid replace destructive beliefs with constructive ones.

2) It gives you a consistent process that is easy to follow and easy to work into your daily routine.

3) It gives you an understanding of the very subtle concepts of how we keep ourselves from taking the maximum advantage of newly learned skills that you aren’t aware of because they are so subtle. Becoming aware of these subtle concepts increases the speed of changing your beliefs.

In order to make the most of your professional development training and not get caught in the cycle of taking course after course after course without making more than a minor difference in your life, you need to take a holistic approach to your professional development. That includes working on inner beliefs and thoughts as well as increasing your external skill set. Be sure your holistic approach allows you to quickly become aware of unsupportive beliefs and thought patterns so you can move forward as quickly as possible.

It is easier to reach the goals in your professional or personal life when you have the right tools. Find out more about one of the Integrative Professional Development Training Courses that gives you the tools you need to increase your chances of success.

In the world that we live in, several multinational companies tower over one another. It is not something to bring wonder to all as these occurrences form part of the goal to which everyone is geared towards-it is none other than global competitiveness.

You must not get the shock of your life when you see multinational companies springing form one continent to another, from one shore to another shore, and from one border towards another. In your most unexpected places, multinational companies may pop out and can also expand at any minute.

With the innumerable businesses in existence today, you might think that your effort to put up one will just be futile as it is like planting a seedling in an array of towering trees. It may be but it may not also be. Got the logic? Then, read on!

Despite all the lording gigantic businesses there are in these days, the rise of entrepreneurship cannot be stopped. The rate of entrepreneurship is in fact growing day-by-day concerning the hundreds of people who want to start up something with their capitals in hand. For someone who wishes to put up a business, risk must be taken. Competition is inevitable in this kind of industry. That is why you must be firm with whatever decision you will make and capable of risk-taking.

If people discourage you to dwell into any type of business, better not listen to them. After all, entrepreneurship is indeed very much alive. Government systems in fact encourage entrepreneurs that will help boost up the economy and save the nation from further crises. While the government is welcoming with open arms these foreign investors, it is not as well turning its backs from local investors. In reality, the government is encouraging investments from their local people. After all, the government deems that investments are the sole solutions to provide the nation some stability and certainty in terms of the economy.

Do not be taken aback by the giant investors existing in the market. They are already stable so they would not bother to pull you down. Just concentrate with your own stuff and think of better ways to further improve your craft. Who knows, someday you might be one of those giants lining up the business arena.

But how will you start? How can you be turned into an entrepreneur? Look into your own self. What can you offer? What capabilities can you boast of? What are you capable of doing? Just have a vision of what you like and certainly you can make it come true. Before pursuing into any type of business, equip yourself first with the utmost trainings.

Entrepreneurial training programs will make your qualifications sharper, fluent, and competent enough to face the battle among the existing competitors. Where can you gain access of entrepreneurial training programs? Several companies offer these training programs. Schools are also hooked into this scheme. Always consult the expert in the field of entrepreneurial training programs.

Do away with the negative vibes. Do away with negative thoughts about yourself. You know you can do it. You know you can face it. Do away with confusions. Do away with self-pity. Just sport a positive perspective about yourself and you will soon see what will become of you. Maybe you will not be too successful on the first try. But then the more you try, the closer you will be with success.

One ultimate source of entrepreneur training programs is the internet. Yes, online entrepreneurial training programs are widely available. These trainings harness and hone your entrepreneurial skills even you without knowing it. Online courses are at times free. But mostly, they need to be subscribed to. If you think you are now ready to face the battle, try searching for online courses on entrepreneurship training programs.

There are literally lots of them. While undergoing the training program, be sure that you pay keen attention to whatever lessons are given out. These lessons will determine the knowledge that you may manifest as you already deal with the actual reality.

A training program on entrepreneurship will let you reap fruitful results. Just believe in your own capacity.

For example, what books I need to get, what I need to do, etc. I am already finishing college for engineering, but I do not know if I will ever find a job. I already have civil/surveying/environmental covered, but what about electrical/computer/chemical/mechanical/software/ and biological engineering. I am wanting to choose a set of niches that I can pursue a career with from civil and one or more of these fields. Any tips for how to become an entrepreneur in these fields?

Over the years countless institutes and individuals have asked the million dollar question. What makes an entrepreneur an entrepreneur? What traits or characteristics are inherent to a successful entrepreneur and is one born with those traits? There’s great news! Successful entrepreneurs are born every day!

Some people believe an entrepreneur is born while others believe an entrepreneur can be taught. Some believe an entrepreneur is like an artist – either you have it or do you don’t. Some see entrepreneurs as leaders that are focused, disciplined, competitive, and charismatic, while others see them as huge risk takers. And all of these analogies are right to some degree.

It’s true all successful entrepreneurs share a few qualities and skills that allow them to be successful. These inherent qualities can be taught; but they often seem to be an inherent driving force that sends individuals down the path of being in business or formally training to for a career in business.

Entrepreneurs see the world differently. They have the ability to see the world as a system. They have the ability to see something in its entirety and as an integrated unit, and they seem to possess the ability to see opportunity within the global picture. They are what is called a system thinker.

There are other characteristics they possess. Entrepreneurs possess an overpowering need to achieve and tend to be very competitive against themselves. They are continuously trying to outthink themselves and others and they are constantly looking for the edge. This is a process that occurs as naturally as breathing and is a driving force behind most entrepreneurs.

They have the determination and dedication to follow through with commitments and they always appear confident and in control. You’ll notice they also possess a positive atmosphere. They are of the mindset “I can,” and “I will.” They are not afraid of failure because failure is not in their vocabulary nor is it an option.

They are objective but have the ability to weigh risks realistically within the big picture. They have an uncanny ability to anticipate developments which gives them the edge on many competitive situations. Entrepreneurs seem to feel right from their gut, call it instinct. They are a resourceful group that possess excellent problem solving skills and are able to diligently work through obstacles as they occur.

Entrepreneurs are excellent communicators and recognize how important clear and concise communication is to their success. They also possess a sound working knowledge of the business they are involved in.

When it comes to successful entrepreneurs it’s a question of what came first, the chicken or the egg. Is it inherent qualities that we are born with that lead us to be entrepreneurs or is it when we choose to become an entrepreneur that we develop the skills and qualities of success? That’s a question we shall leave to the great debaters to resolve.

What is for certain is that successful entrepreneurs are born every day and that you too can be a successful entrepreneur by developing the skills of success.
