Sure, it’s bad in the short-run, but think about it in the long run. If oil prices rise higher then that will drive entrepreneurs to develop alternative fuels. Since we know the government is not going to help with this goal, private enterprise will be the only way to truly develop those fuels. In the past there hadn’t been a profit incentive for them to do so, but now there is (or will be) since individuals and firms would purchase their goods in order to avoid gas prices.
Such alternative fuels would, as is obvious, make our environment cleaner and reduced our dependence on foreign powers. It would not be limited to cars, but would spread throughout the economy to trucks, trains, planes, ships, etc.

Professional development takes on more meaning than just improving your business-related skill set or adding a new professional skill set. If your thoughts, beliefs and habits don’t support you in taking your profession to the next level, it doesn’t matter how many new skills you learn.
